Years 3 & 4 - Chestnut Class

Welcome to Year 3 and 4 Chestnut Class 2025-2026.

Our class teachers are Mrs Perrin and Mrs Auld.

We have different teaching assistants working in our class: Mrs Leonard, Mrs Aldridge, Mrs Mclean and Miss Smith. 

Class information 

This term, PE will take place on Thursday afternoons. 
Please can all children always have the correct PE kit in school, including trainers and suitable clothing for outdoor lessons in all weathers.

As part of our drive to keep active for our mental health and wellbeing, we will all take part in 'The Golden Mile' on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Please could children arrive to school wearing trainers suitable for running on grass and with their school shoes to change into afterwards.

Children taking part in sports clubs or sporting events during the school day or after school, should also have the correct PE kit in school on those days, including specialist footwear, such as football boots.

Curriculum Learning:

English: This term we will be focusing our writing on non-fiction reports and performance. We will explore a variety of key texts including: Amazing Rivers and the Rhythm of the Rain.

History: Why did the Romans invade and settle in Britain? 

Science: How does food affect muscle fatigue? 

RE: Does the language of scripture matter? 

PSHE: Safety and the changing of the body.

ART: Prehistoric painting

Homework:

A reminder and details of the homework activities can be found in your child's reading log book and will include:

  • Reading - please can children aim to several times each week and log their reading in their reading record book.  
  • Spellings - New spellings will be sent home every Tuesday and tested the following Monday. 
  • Times tables practice - the children have many different methods for learning their times tables but they also enjoy challenging themselves on 'Times Table Rock Stars'.
  • English / Maths - A piece of homework will be set each week. Subjects will alternate weekly and homework will be linked to classroom learning.
