Foundation - Beech Class

Welcome to Beech Class

In EYFS we are taught by Mrs Panter (Monday-Tuesday) and Mrs Smith (Wednesday-Friday) and our fabulous teaching assistant Mrs Javes. We also have a dedicated forest school teacher, Mrs Howe, who works with us at our own Woolhampton Forest School on Wednesday afternoons.

The Power of Play in Early Years: Learning with Joy, Wonder and Imagination

At the heart of our Early Years setting lies something truly magical — play. It may look like fun (and it is!), but play is also the most powerful way young children learn about themselves, each other and the world around them.

When children play they’re experimenting, problem-solving, creating, and imagining. A tower of blocks becomes a lesson in physics and perseverance. A pretend shop turns into a world of numbers, language, and social skills. A muddy puddle becomes a laboratory for curiosity and discovery.

Through play, children develop confidence, creativity and resilience.  These are the qualities that form the foundation for a lifelong love of learning. They learn to take turns, share ideas and explore big emotions in a safe, nurturing space. Most importantly, they experience the joy of finding things out for themselves.

Mrs Smith and Mrs Panter carefully design playful learning environments that spark curiosity and delight. Every activity — from outdoor adventures to storytime — is thoughtfully planned to build essential skills while keeping children’s natural sense of wonder alive.

When children learn through joy, imagination and discovery...the possibilities are endless.
