PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education)

Personal, Social and Health (PSHE) Education, including Relationships, Health and Sex Education (RSHE) is a vital part of our curriculum, helping children develop the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead confident, healthy, and responsible lives.  We follow the Kapow Primary PSHE/RSHE scheme, which provides a rich, carefully structured programme that supports children’s personal development from Early Years through to Year 6.

Our curriculum aims to ensure that our children grow up learning to safely and successfully navigate the world around them, to enable them to become well rounded, happy citizens who can make a positive contribution to society.  Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), forms an important part of our personal development and wellbeing provision.  It is taught as part of a combined curriculum with Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE).  Our RSE & PSHE curriculum is designed to support pupils to understand themselves, their relationships with others and the world around them. Through this learning, pupils develop the knowledge and skills needed to build healthy relationships, care for the physical and mental wellbeing of themselves and others, understand their role in society and stay safe in a range of situations, including online.  These teachings are applied and enhanced further through many other aspects of school life, including our school vision and values, our collective worship, our forest school curriculum and our relational approach to behaviour management.

Our curriculum has been approved by parents and governors and is taught in an age appropriate way that reflects the Christian ethos of our school and the needs of the children.  Our RSE policy can be accessed via our Policies Page.

We are also proud to be part of the No Outsiders initiative, which promotes equality, diversity and inclusion through a positive and age-appropriate approach. At our school, we believe that every child and family should feel welcome, valued, and celebrated for who they are. As part of this commitment, we teach a No Outsiders lesson in each class once each half term, using carefully chosen stories and discussions to help children understand and respect differences, develop empathy and build a strong sense of belonging. Through these lessons, we prepare our children to live confidently and kindly in a diverse world.
