Maths
The subject leader for Mathematics is Mr O'Connell. At Woolhampton, we aim to provide children with a rich and relevant maths curriculum that teaches children the mathematical skills they require for success in everyday life. We follow and adapt the White Rose Scheme to suit the needs of our children.
English
The subject leader for English is Mrs Perrin. We have carefully re-designed our own, bespoke English curriculum to meet the needs of our particular children. It aims to provide children with exciting and ambitious lessons that encourages them to be passionate and confident about reading and writing. We are dedicated to enabling all children fulfil their potential in becoming highly competent readers and purposeful writers by the time they move onto secondary school. It is our intention to give children the opportunity to discover, explore and enjoy a wide range of quality texts that will inspire their love of reading and fuel their creative imaginations. Through high quality teaching, we intend to expose children to a language rich environment where they learn to communicate effectively and confidentially through their speaking and writing.
Science
The subject leader for science is Mrs Buddery. Our science curriculum, aims to offer children the opportunity to discover and grow their understanding of the world they are living in. Science should be something that starts with a ‘WOW’ moment and is instantly engaging, with children finding the exploration of science irresistible, fascinating and inspiring awe and wonder. We follow the Kapow Science scheme which enables us to provide high quality science teaching, ensuring children have a strong grasp on the ‘big questions’ posed by science and that they develop the scientific methods, skills and processes to enable these to be explored. We aim to provide a hands-on approach to scientific discovery, enhanced by a wide range of resources and supported by specialist visitors, school trips and experiences. We intend for all our pupils to see themselves as scientists and understand the roles that scientists play in all our lives. We teach with the hope that we can inspire this generation to become the scientists of the future.
