ESafety

We take online safety very seriously at Woolhampton.  We know that the online world can be a great asset and enhance learning in many ways, but it also presents risks to our children.  At school, our internet and computers have a filtering and monitoring system which prevents access to inappropriate content and our staff have online safety and cyber security training to ensure that they are aware of the latest risks and ways to keep children safe.  Children are taught about online safety as part of their PSHE lessons.  We strongly encourage parents to make sure that they have parental controls on devices at home and that online use is carefully monitored.

This is the main message that we give to our children:

Always be careful when you are using the internet. It can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm – to you and to others.

Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.

Don’t be afraid to talk to a trusted adult if you are worried about anything, however small and never share any information without checking with an adult first.

The CEOP website has more information about Child Exploitation, Online Protection and Internet safety.  This includes the ability to report any concerns that you may have.

Tips for staying safe online:

  • Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.

  • Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
